The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry’s Hemp Program is proposing new rules that establish requirements for becoming licensed to grow hemp indoors and outdoors in Maine. The proposed rules are available through a link at They outline the application and licensing process, fees and procedures for monitoring the growth of hemp and include potential penalties for violation of the rules. There will be a public hearing regarding the proposed rules on Tuesday, January 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Room 101 of the Deering Building, 90 Blossom Lane, Augusta.
