The Strand Theatre continues to offer a weekly schedule of new-release films that patrons can watch through online streaming platforms. Those who buy “virtual tickets” will have several days to watch the films. Virtual tickets are $12.

Films include:

“Up from the Streets — New Orleans: The City of Music,”playing now through Thursday, May 21. Hosted by Oscar-nominated and six-time Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter/composer Terence Blanchard, the film celebrates the evolution of music in New Orleans, from early innovations in jazz through rhythm and blues and funk.

“Lucky Grandma,” Friday, May 22, through Thursday, May 28. Set in New York City, an ornery, chain-smoking Chinese grandmother goes to a casino and lands on the wrong side of luck — and in the middle of a Chinatown gang war. The comedy, directed by Sasie Sealy, features a new song by Akwafina.
