May 10: Chemical Pioneer, a 662-foot chemical tanker, arrived in Searsport from Wilmington, N.C., and delivered caustic soda. It departed May 11 for New York.

May 13: La Cheval, a tugboat traveling from Fourchon, La., delivered a flat barge to Cianbro’s Eastern Manufacturing in Brewer. The barge is the third of 19 scheduled to move refinery modules from the facility to a site in Pennsylvania.

Francophones might wonder why it’s La Cheval and not Le Cheval. The owner, Louisiana International Marine LLC, has four other tugs, named: La Commander, La Elite, La Invader and La Madonna.

May 19: New England, a 600-foot Irving Oil tanker, arrived in Searsport from Saint John, N.B., and delivered 90,000 barrels of gasoline and 43,000 barrels of diesel. The next day, it continued to Bucksport and delivered 90,000 barrels of heating oil and 35,000 barrels of jet fuel. It departed May 22, returning to Saint John.

May 21: Coho and Penn 92, a tug and asphalt barge, arrived in Searsport from Saint John, N.B., and delivered 80,000 barrels of asphalt.
