School district RSU 13, comprising South Thomaston, Owls Head, Cushing, Rockland and Thomaston, has completed a reorganization of facilities and resources — called Schools of Our Future — including school and grade consolidations; initiation of pre-K programming; facility enhancements at both Oceanside middle and high schools; and the new Ash Point Community School — motivated by the district’s strategic plan. The district is now preparing to enter a new phase of strategic planning — Envisioning the Schools of Our Future 2.0.

A series of community conversations to include parents, parent-group leaders, municipal leaders and interested community members are planned, seeking ideas and recommendations on how to best help students prepare for the future and to help update the district’s strategic plan. Those interested may attend one or all of the events, which will be held from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. on October 8, 15, 22, and 29 at each of four locations: Cushing Community School library, Ash Point Community School library, Oceanside Middle School cafeteria, and Oceanside High School cafeteria.
