Belfast’s 32nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. candlelight community gathering will be held in Post Office Square on Monday, January 18, at 4:30 p.m. The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Committee will host a Zoom program at 3 p.m. January 18 featuring excerpts from King’s speeches and comments from community members about the day’s importance for them. Email to receive the link to attend and to offer comments for inclusion in the program. The MLK Jr. speeches will be closed-captioned.

Attendees are asked to bring candles or flashlights and to wear masks and stand 8–10 feet apart, stretching down both sides of Main Street. The bells of First Church will be tolled.
