Coastal Mountains Land Trust (CMLT) was one of the first land trusts in the country — and the first in Maine — to receive national accreditation. Ten years later, CMLT is preparing for its second renewal. As part of the accreditation renewal process, a public comment period is now open through September 13.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. It recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever.

The commission invites public opinion and seeks signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments should relate to how well CMLT meets the national accreditation standards.

To submit a comment, visit landtrustaccreditation.org; email info@landtrustaccreditation.org; send a fax to 518-587-3183; or send mail to Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attention: Public Comments, 36 Phila Street, Suite 2, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
