The Frances Perkins Center will host a screening of the remastered 1976 film “The New Deal for Artists” at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta on Thursday, July 29, at 2 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Sarah Peskin, chair of the Frances Perkins Center board, will speak after both showings.

Narrated by Orson Welles, and featuring Studs Terkel, John Houseman, Arthur Rothstein, Howard Da Silva, James Brooks, Nelson Algren and others, the film focuses on New Deal art programs that employed some 10,000 artists starting in the 1930s, as well as thousands of writers, directors, actors and others who are shown in the film.

General admission tickets, $8, $6 for Lincoln Theater members and youth, can be purchased in advance or at the door; concessions will be available and masks are optional. Visit lincolntheater.net to purchase tickets and read more information, or call 563-3374.
