Road work in downtown Camden will narrow Elm Street (Route 1) to a single lane starting the week of April 12 and continuing intermittently through June 18.

Maine Department of Transportation will be resuming sidewalk and drainage improvements on a quarter-mile stretch of Elm Street, from Union Street to just north of Bay View Street. Commercial Street will also be affected.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane at the southern end of the project when the contractor’s hours require it and will return to two-way traffic when crews leave for the day. On-street parking will be limited because MDOT will be working on underground drainage.

The work will be done by Ranger Construction of Fairfield under a contract for $869,930.
