On Thursday, January 17, the Land Use Planning Commission and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), jointly, will hold a second pre-hearing conference in the matter of Central Maine Power’s proposed New England Clean Energy Connect project. CMP is propsing to build a 145-mile transmission line from the Quebec-Maine border to connect to the New England grid in Lewison in order to deliver hydropower from Quebec to Massachusetts. The pre-hearing conference will be held in the DEP’s Response Training Room at 7 Chimney Lane in Augusta at 1 p.m.

The pre-hearing conference is open to the public for observation only; members of the public may not address the commission or the DEP at the conference. A public hearing will be held later in order to provide an opportunity for the public to address the commission.
