State Sen. David Miramant (D-Knox County) listens on April 12 as constituents voice objections to his recent testimony against LD 798, a bill that would remove philosophical exemptions for immunizing school-age children. The group of roughly 15 bill supporters, who met with Miramant at 3 Dogs Café in Rockport, accused the senator of spreading junk science while ignoring the real threat of diseases that vaccines guard against. Miramant stood by his position, raising questions about the effectiveness of some vaccines and saying, among other things, that the majority of constituents he’s heard from oppose the bill.
