Maine’s Commission on Autonomous Vehicles meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Maine Department of Transportation headquarters, 24 Child Street in Augusta. The meetings are open to the public. For more information, call 624-3300.
According to the National Council of State Legislatures, Nevada, in 2011, was the first state to authorize the operation of autonomous vehicles. Since then, 28 other states—Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin — and Washington, D.C. have enacted legislation related to autonomous vehicles.
