Maine Public Broadcasting Network is recognizing the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg with a new documentary. "Sixteenth Maine at Gettysburg" tells the story of Maine's 16th Volunteer Infantry Regiment, one of the 15 Maine units engaged in the battle, using the soldiers' own words, their pictures, and views, then and now, of the Gettysburg battlefield.

Produced by MPBN's Emmy Award-nominated Daniel Lambert in partnership with the Maine State Archives, "Sixteenth Maine at Gettysburg" examines the epic battle and its overall place in the American Civil War - the cause, its cost, and its aftermath.

The documentary premieres on MPBN Television at 9 p.m. on Monday, July 1, and will be shown again at 10 p.m. on Monday, July 8, and at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.
