Joan Peterkin Foxwell, 90, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2021, in Camden. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest of three daughters of Bessie and Daniel Peterkin Jr.

Joan married the love of her life, Richard (Bill) Foxwell of Camden, Maine, in 1953. They raised four children in Hinsdale, Illinois, where Joan was active with gardening, making pottery, the arts and traveling. After Richard retired, they moved to their house in Northport, Maine, where they had a brief business of raising oysters. They eventually became “snowbirds,” spending the winters in Hobe Sound, Florida, and traveling the world. She was a long-time member of The Megunticook Golf Club and The Camden Yacht Club, and was active with several local charities.

Joan is pre-deceased by husband Richard and son Charlie. She is survived by daughters, Lisa Foxwell of Norwood, Colorado, Karen Foxwell of Northport, Maine, and Wendy Bolding of Fairview, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Taylor Foxwell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Beth Foxwell of Baltimore, Maryland, Tucker Bolding of Washington, DC, and Hayley Bolding of Los Angeles, California; and by five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Belfast Soup Kitchen or any local charity. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
