On April 8, 2021 Charles W. H. Dodge of Gorham died peacefully surrounded by his immediate family. Charlie was born in 1929 in Rockport, the son of Donald D. and Gertrude H. Dodge. He grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he began his education at Chestnut Hill Academy and continued his schooling at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, graduating in 1947. He went on to Princeton University, graduating in 1951 and then completing a M.S.E in Chemical Engineering. After graduating from Princeton he worked for Monsanto Chemical Company in Springfield, Massachusetts, and then went on to work in Chemical Research and Technical Sales for S.D. Warren Company in Westbrook, Maine, in 1959. He retired from S.D. Warren in 1992. Charlie was an avid fly fisherman, bird hunter, sailor and skier. A lifelong outdoorsman, he continued to fish and hunt in Maine and Canada up through last year. He will be remembered as kind, generous and a great storyteller with a keen sense of humor.

Surviving Charlie is his wife of 62 years, Marylee B. Dodge; his four children, Charles W. H. Dodge Jr., Gail D. Dodge, Julia B. Dodge and Elizabeth D. Olson; two sons-in-law; and his five grandchildren. He is also survived by a multitude of cousins with whom he re-united each summer in Rockport. A private memorial will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s memory can be made to the Maine conservation organization of your choice. Funeral arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
