Bernard Victor Cushman Jr., 72, nicknamed “Sonny Boy” as a youngster by his dad and known too many to family and friends as “Sonny,” peacefully passed away on January 3, 2020, at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida, with his son Dan by his side.

Born November 8. 1947, in Port Clyde, Maine, he was the son of Bernard “Spinner” Cushman Sr. and Alice Teel Cushman.

He was predeceased by both his parents, sister Beverly L Upham and his first-born niece Tonya J. Walsh.

He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Barbara; his four children, Kimberly and husband Andris, Daniel and wife Jenn, daughter Alicia and son Bernie; his eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Andrew, Devin, Kaylie, Torin, Daniel Jr., Amelia and Brenden; and one great-granddaughter Ariana; his sister, Della and husband Tim Carey; brother in-law Raymond Upham Jr.; four nephews, Jeff, Raymie, Chad and Matthew; and one niece, Heidi Jean; as well as many great-nieces and -nephews and aunts and uncles.

Sonny loved his country and served in the Army during the Vietnam war. There will be a Military service in the summer at the South Parish Cemetery in Martinsville, Maine. An announcement will be made at that time. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
