Cinémathèque, a new monthly film program celebrating the best of classic, foreign and cult cinema, will run on Monday nights at the Camden Opera House.

Selections for the big screen aim to challenge, invigorate and promote dialogue. Casual post-show discussions at nearby 40 Paper will follow each screening, with half-price drinks starting at 9 p.m.

The first film in the series will be “Girlfriends,” on Monday, January 14, at 7 p.m. Set in 1970s New York City, the “hilarious, overlooked classic” is also described as “one of the greatest on-screen representations of female friendship.”

Tickets, $8, are available at the door only. Check camdenoperahouse.com for upcoming titles in the series.
