“Dad’s Army” (2016, not rated, 100 minutes) will be shown Sunday, January 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Abbott Room of Belfast Free Library, presented by Belfast Senior College.

This warm film for a cold day is a comedy set in England in 1944 at the end of World War II, in which a Home Guard platoon in an English Channel coastline town deals with a visiting female journalist and a German spy. Touching and funny, according to reviews, it stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and British character actors Bill Nighy and Michael Gambon. There will be subtitles so everyone will be able to understand every word.

There will be an introduction by Paul Sheridan, Belfast Senior College lecturer on film and photography.
