  • Three Solo Shows Open at the Caldbeck July 11

    On Wednesday, July 11, the Caldbeck Gallery, 12 Elm Street in Rockland, will open three new solo shows, featuring the work of Kayla Mohammadi of South Bristol, and Boston, Massachusetts, Barbara Sullivan of Solon, and Jill Madden of Weybridge, Vermont.

    Fred Kellogg paints what most of us don’t see: a black plastic garbage bag along the side of a residential street, crumpled and torn, no doubt, by marauding seagulls (“September, Dunn Street”); a rusting remnant of Rockland’s post-industrial decline (“Rockland Earthworks”); the barely visible silhouette of an anonymous figure in a distant view of a farm (“Beverage Farm”).
  • New Artist at Saltwater Artists Gallery
    Saltwater Artists Gallery, on Route 130 in Pemaquid, has welcomed oil painter Elaine Abel to the gallery.
  • “Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads: Gold”
    Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland will open a special exhibition of sculptural works by Chinese dissident-artist Ai Weiwei (b. 1957) on Saturday, March 24, and it will be on display in the museum’s Rothschild Gallery through December 30. This is the first New England showing of Ai Weiwei’s gilded Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads.
