Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition (MCRC) will host weekly SMART recovery peer support meetings starting on Tuesday, July 3, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the MCRC office at 411 Main Street in Rockland.

SMART stands for self-management and recovery training, which is a science-based addiction recovery support program.  At the meetings, participants learn techniques to aid their recovery in a supportive group setting. While participants are encouraged to draw strength from their faith, this is not a faith-based program nor a 12-step program.

There is no cost for individuals wishing to participate.  All are invited to attend as many meetings as they would like, even just to come and to listen to see if it is an approach that’s right for them.  The group will continue to meet every Tuesday, from 5 to 6 p.m., and the sessions will be facilitated by Dr. Ira Mandel, who has 12 years’ experience in helping people with drug addiction.
