Starting Saturday, May 26, at 2 p.m., Waldoboro Conservation Commission will lead Saturday walks on scenic public trails around town. The walks will be scheduled once a month at 2 p.m., and Medomak Valley Land Trust naturalists will participate in many of the walks to share their knowledge. The walk on May 26 will be along the Medomak River. Participants will meet at the parking lot of the VFW Hall on Mill Street, proceed to the Waldoboro Village River Park and then to the Elm Street fish ladder. Potential pocket parks where the beauty of the downtown Medomak Falls (pictured) can be admired will be pointed out by Conservation Commission members. On June 30, the group will meet at Dutch Neck Marine Park to enjoy the views out to Havener Ledge. On July 21, the walk will be along the trail at Quarry Hill, just off Depot Street. On August 25, the walk will be at the handicapped-accessible Medomak (Neil Lash) Nature Trail behind Medomak Valley High School. On September 22, the walk will take place at the Waldoboro Town Forest and Ancient Hemlock Grove. The last planned trek on October 20 will be on the 3K cross-country trail behind A.D. Gray School.
