Daniel Bookham will speak about his unexpected travels on a 24-foot boat in the Arctic Ocean at Camden Public Library on Thursday, January 23, at 6:30 p.m. Bookham received a cryptic message from an Icelandic friend asking him to call her. Six weeks later he was at sea, scanning the shoreline for Inuit and Norse ruins as a member of the Ammassalik Expedition. Bookham will describe what the expedition found and experienced along the way. Born, raised and educated in Britain, Bookham moved to Maine in 1995 and recently became a U.S. citizen. He was executive director of Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce from 2009 to 2012 and currently works at Allen Insurance Agency. For more information, visit librarycamden.org.
