Matthew Silverio, chief of Northeast Mobile Health Service’s mountain rescue team and a member of Pine Tree Search and Rescue, will give a free presentation at Lincolnville Community Library on how to stay safe and comfortable while camping in winter on Wednesday, December 4, at 7 p.m. Silverio will discuss how to layer clothing properly, manage moisture, and pack the essentials for outdoor winter recreation. He will explain what to do when lost or injured in the wilderness and how search-and-rescue response teams work in Maine. Silverio has camped, skied, climbed, paddled, and run in the Maine woods for more than 30 years. Having spent many nights outside during the winter, he says he sometimes enjoys camping in that season more than in the summer.
