On Friday and Saturday, December 7 and 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport celebrates the season with “Victorian Christmas.” The museum’s 19th-century sea captain’s house will be decorated for the holidays. The museum’s mobile gift shop will be open for holiday shopping, and there will be a family-friendly ornament craft activity. Admission is free for the event; donations are welcome. As part of “Victorian Christmas,” the museum will also be holding a gingerbread lighthouse competition on the evening of Friday, December 7. There is a $5 registration fee for the adult competition, with the winner receiving 50 percent of the proceeds, and the other 50 percent helping to support museum programming. The children’s competition is free, and the winner will receive a small prize. “Victorian Christmas” will be held at 1 and 2 Church Street on the Penobscot Marine Museum campus. For more information or to register for the gingerbread lighthouse competition, email jganskop@pmm-maine.org or call 548-2529.
