Louisa Shafia, author of “The New Persian Kitchen,” will speak about Persian food, with a focus on the food of the Jews of Iran, at Adas Yoshuron Synagogue, 50 Willow Street in Rockland, on Wednesday, December 12, at 6 p.m. Her talk will be followed by a tasting buffet prepared by the synagogue’s Food in Jewish Culture group, based on recipes in Shafia’s book. The program is free and open to the public. Books will be available to purchase. “The New Persian Kitchen” won Food 52’s award for the best cookbook of the year in 2014. Shafia has cooked at notable restaurants in San Francisco and New York, including Millennium, Aquavit, and Pure Food and Wine. She recently ended the seven-month run of her Persian street food pop-up, Lakh Lakh. Shafia’s Silk Road cooking has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bon Appetite and on NPR.
