Maine writer and humorist Tim Caverly will present an interactive presentation, “So You Think You Know Maine?,” at Merryspring Nature Center, 30 Conway Road, Camden, on Tuesday, September 24, at noon. Admission is $5; free for Merryspring members. Using a quiz-show format, Caverly will reveal the birthplace of Disney’s Bambi, spotlight northern-forest ice caves, abandoned railways, ancient pictographs and oceanic whirlpools, telling tales that may be described as “classic Maine.” Attendees will learn why there is a cove in Washington County called “Bailey’s Mistake” and where in Maine the event known today as “Lexington of the Seas” took place. Caverly has self-published seven books about New England’s northern forest. He spent 32 years as a Maine state park ranger and is a founder of New England Reads, a literacy project.
