Cook’s Lobster and Ale House on Bailey Island will hold its third annual Lobstermen’s Relief Fund Benefit on Friday, September 14, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. At 6 p.m., Portland-based Americana band Snughouse (pictured) will play. The event raises money for the Lobstermen’s Relief Fund, part of the Maine Lobstermen’s Community Alliance (MLCA). Patrice McCarron, president of MLCA, says, “Fishing is the most dangerous occupation nationwide, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. And when tragedy strikes, the Lobstermen’s Relief Fund is there to help the family.” Area businesses and local lobstermen are donating the ingredients for dishes created by chef J.B. Dubois. Attendees can enjoy meals of lobster, chicken or steak tips while overlooking the water. Boat tie-ups at the local pier are available. An all-day silent auction will offer items ranging from restaurant meals to schooner trips, art, and overnight stays at local inns. The full purchase price of all-day specials and 10% of the price of regular menu items will be donated to the Relief Fund. Proceeds from beer sales directly support the fund.
