Carver Memorial Library in Searsport will host a meet- and-greet with service dog Commander and his handler Andrea Cross on Tuesday, January 14, at 5 p.m. The public can meet Commander, learn more about service dogs and ask questions. The library’s Paws to Read program will be held on two Tuesdays — January 21 and 28 — from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Commander and Cross will be at the library so children can practice reading aloud to him and he can spend time with library visitors. Reading aloud to dogs can help children gain confidence and skill while experiencing the fun of reading. Commander is a 4-year-old boxer mix specializing in medical alert.
