Friends and family will host “Join in for Julie,” a fund-raising dinner and auction to support Julie Landwehr, who has Stage 4 bone cancer, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, at the Rockland Elks Lodge, 210 Rankin Street. Tickets will be sold at the door: $10 for adults; $5 for children age 10 and under; $30 for a family of four or more. Only cash and checks will be accepted for the dinner and for auction purchases.

Dinner will include a variety of soups, chilis, chowders, salads, breads and desserts, all donated by local individuals, food purveyors and dining establishments. Attendees can participate in a dessesrt auction and bid for dessert platters donated by local bakers.

A silent auction from 4 to 6 p.m. will feature more than 50 items. Auction tables will close every 15 minutes between 4:45 and 6:00, allowing those who wish to bid but not to stay for the entire evening an opportunity to participate. There will also be a variety of raffle baskets. A live auction will begin at 6:00, with Tom Peaco as auctioneer.

For those who cannot attend but would like to help, friends suggest contributing to the “Benefit for Julie Landwehr” account at any office of Camden National Bank or donating through the “Join in for Julie” GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/f/join-in-for-julie.

Julie Drinkwater Landwehr has successfully faced cancer for the past 25 years — nearly half her life. She has recently undergone chemotherapy and radiation treatments and is unable to work at this time. She has been a self-employed hairdresser at Eric’s Barbershop in Camden for more than 30 years.
