All are invited to the Good Time Chicken BBQ and Elvis Show — “a look back at a time when chickens ruled Belfast and Elvis was king” — on Wednesday, September 12, at 4:30 p.m. at Steamboat Landing on the waterfront in Belfast, or, in the event of rain, at the Belfast Boathouse.

The menu includes half a barbecued chicken (cooked on-site), salads, roll, soft drink and light dessert. A performance by Elvis tribute entertainer Jessi Mallory will follow at 6 p.m.

Tickets must be secured in advance and will only be available until Friday, August 31. A requested donation of $15 per ticket covers both the meal and show. Tickets can be purchased on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Belfast Senior Center (the center meets at Belfast United Methodist Church, on Mill Lane). Tickets are also available at Bella Books, at its new location at 31 Pendleton Alley, behind the Belfast Co-op. Those wishing to attend just the Elvis show should arrive at 5:45, and a donation of $4 is recommended.

The barbecue and show is sponsored by Belfast Department of Parks and Recreations, in cooperation with the Belfast Senior Center. For more information, email parksandrec@cityofbelfast.org or belfastsenior@gmail.com.
