Midcoast Maine author Katherine Silva will be at Vose Library, 392 Common Road in Union, on Thursday, September 13, at 7 p.m. to talk about her latest work. Silva is the author of the Monstrum Chronicles series. Her second book in the series, “Aequitas,” was nominated for a 2013 Maine Literary award. She published her first comedy, “Night Time, Dotted Line,” in November 2013. Her latest literary projects include a paranormal murder-mystery comedy series heavily influenced by third-wave ska and punk and “The Collection: A Novella,” a period piece described as “Downton Abbey meets American Horror Story,” which she will discuss at the library.

On Monday, September 17, at 2:30 p.m., Vose Library will host “Decluttering 101,” a Pen Bay Medical Center program for those who are feeling disorganized and overwhelmed by too much stuff in their homes. “Decluttering 101” is designed to help people identify different types of clutter and develop a strategy for tackling clutter once and for all. Participants will leave with an action plan to help them clear out what they don’t want or need so they can truly enjoy the things they love.

Both programs are free and open to all.
