At Rockland Public Lib-rary on Tuesday, February 12, at 6 p.m., journalist, government spokesman and crisis communications expert Chet Lunner will speak on the impact of fake news. The talk is part of the “World in Your Library Foreign Policy Speaking Series,” a partnership between Maine Humanities Council, Rockland Public Library, and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Lunner began as a reporter for Biddeford Journal Tribune; he later became city editor at Portland Evening Express (an afternoon edition of the Portland Press Herald) and then a national news correspondent. He then worked as a Congressional chief of staff before being appointed to serve as press secretary to the Secretary of Transportation under President George W. Bush. While there, he led the Department of Transportation’s response to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Lunner is now retired and lives in Cape Elizabeth.
