Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education is accepting applications for its 200-hour CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) course, which begins Tuesday, February 5, and follows a Tuesday through Thursday daytime schedule for nine weeks. CNAs are in demand locally and graduates have choices for employment in long-term care, assisted living, home care, and hospitals. The course is also a stepping stone into additional health care certifications.

Students accepted to the course may also apply to Pen Bay Healthcare’s Apprenticeship “Earn While You Learn” program. After being interviewed and accepted in the MCST Adult Ed CNA course, students can pursue the Pen Bay program in which those who commit to applying for employment at Pen Bay long-term care facilities after graduation may be paid to attend the CNA class.

Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the State Competency Exam, students are eligible to enter the health care field as Certified Nursing Assistants under the direction of a licensed nurse.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED and have a clean criminal record. For more information or to receive an application, call 596-7752, option 3. Enrollment is limited to 10 students; deadline to apply is 2 p.m. on Friday, January 25.
