Thomaston Public Library will hold three book club meetings and a free exercise class for seniors in the coming weeks.

Sandy Bodamer from the YMCA is leading the exercise class from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the gym at the Academy building, downstairs from the library. The focus is on standing and chair routines — using light weights, resistance bands and small fitness balls — that are easily adaptable to those of all fitness levels.

Class sizes are limited to allow for safe distancing and masks must be worn. Attendance is first come, first served and all are welcome. Donations will be accepted at the library.

The Pop-Up Book Club will continue on Thursday, September 16, at 2 p.m.; the rain date is Thursday, September 23. The group will discuss books from Louise Penny’s Chief Inspector Gamache mystery series; participants may read any title in the series.

The Intergenerational Book Club will meet online and in person, as participants prefer, on Tuesday, September 21, at 2:30 p.m., to discuss “The Signature of All Things” by Elizabeth Gilbert. The selection for the book club’s October 19 discussion will be the memoir “Eat a Peach” by David Chang.
