J Street New England’s regional director, Janette Hillis-Jaffe, will speak at Adas Yoshuron Synagogue, 50 Willow Street, Rockland, on Tuesday, July 16, at 7 p.m. Her talk, free and open to the public, is titled “What Does It Mean to Be Pro-Israel, Pro-Peace in Today’s World?”

Hillis-Jaffe will discuss increasing tensions with Iran and the future of the Iran nuclear deal; Jared Kushner’s approach to an Israeli-Palestinian “peace plan” and its reception in the Middle East; challenges of fostering constructive pro-Israel policy on Capitol Hill; and steps to foster thoughtful dialogue about these issues in our communities. 

J Street is a “pro-Israel, pro-peace, diplomacy-first” advocacy group. Hillis-Jaffe has almost 30 years’ experience in marketing, development, political organizing and lobbying on state, national and international levels. She has led a variety of social justice and public health projects in Tokyo, Pakistan, Jerusalem and Boston.
