The Café Gallery at Good Tern Co-op in Rockland is holding “Poetry & Art VI: A Mail-In Exhibition,” its sixth such annual event, and invites people of all ages anywhere to send in pieces related, “however loosely,” to the theme of poetry and art. Submissions will be on exhibit at the gallery in April, which is National Poetry Month.

According to gallery curator Lois Anne, submissions can include “poetry, visual art, poems inspired by sculptures, visual art about poetry, drawings inspired by poetry, poems by artists, visual art by poets … anything that fits on a postcard or in an envelope.” Send entries to Lois Anne, P.O. Box 1661, Rockland ME 04841. Entries must be postmarked by March 25.

Work is usually not returned. However, for three weeks after the exhibition is taken down, pieces will be available for pickup at the Good Tern; those out of the area who want their pieces returned must enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with their entry.

According to Lois Anne, “The [gallery] usually features work by co-op members, [but for this show] we open it up to the larger community. Past years’ entries were received from as far away as Florida, Chicago, the West Coast, Quebec and western Ontario.”
