Rockland Public Library is putting out a call for local writers to apply for a spot in its first-ever local authors fair, which will take place on Saturday, April 13. Authors (represented by a publishing company or self-published) who live in Knox, Waldo or Lincoln counties and have published fiction or nonfiction for children, teens, or adults are welcome to apply. Space is limited.

Each participant will have a designated space to display and promote their book(s) and will have an opportunity to meet other writers, interact with potential readers, make new contacts, and connect with old friends. Participants will be responsible for supplying their own books to sell and for providing change and/or the ability to accept credit card purchases. Library staff will not be available to help with sales. Authors participating in the fair will be asked to present a brief (5 to 10 minutes) book talk or reading at the event and must be willing to help promote the fair.

As part of the application process, authors must supply a copy of their book, which may or may not be added to the library’s collection. Submissions must include the Local Authors Fair application form and will be accepted through Friday, March 1. Participants selected for the fair will be contacted no later than March 15. Application forms are available for pick up at the library, by emailing Patricia King at, or via the library’s Facebook page.
