Curator and author Deanna Bonner-Ganter will speak about her research into the life and work of Maine photojournalist Kosti Ruohomaa on Tuesday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of Rockland Public Library. Following her presentation, Bonner-Ganter will sign copies of her book, “Kosti Ruohomaa: The Photographer Poet,” and there will be refreshments in the Rockland Historical Society’s museum on the library’s lower level.

Bonner-Ganter was curator of photography, art and archives at the Maine State Museum; now retired, she is volunteering at the Penobscot Marine Museum, sorting, scanning, and cataloging the trove of Ruohomaa negatives they recently acquired from the Black Star photo agency.

The historical society has hung the Penobscot Marine Museum’s exhibit of Kosti Ruohomaa’s photographs in the hallway leading to the museum; the photos will remain on display through July.

The evening is free and open to the public. Call 594-0310 for more information.
