Maine Authors Publishing will host a class called “The Writers’ Roundtable” on four consecutive Fridays in June, beginning June 5, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. via Zoom. Attendance is by application; there will be eight participants chosen. The suggested donation to attend is $45; all donations will support Maine Authors’ Bookstore Direct program. The donation will be reduced to $10 for those experiencing financial hardship.

Led by author Deborah Gould, the class will focus on choice of subject; theme, plot, structure and truth; characters and dialogue; and setting and voice. Gould’s first novel, “Household,” was published in 2011. In 2014, an excerpt from her second novel, “The Eastern: The Early Years,” won the Maine Literary Award, and the complete novel was a finalist in the 2016 Maine Literary Awards. She is now working on her fourth novel.

Prospective applicants are asked to email a one-page writing sample and a statement of 100 words or fewer stating why they wish to attend, as a single document — .docx preferred — to info@maineauthorspublishing.com. Writers of all levels are encouraged to apply. The submission deadline is Thursday, May 21.
