The Catching Up with the Classics book group at Rockland Public Library is changing its meeting time to the fourth Monday of the month at 6 p.m. New members are welcome. The group meets downstairs in the library’s Board Room.

Catching Up with the Classics gives people a chance to read some classics they may have missed or to revisit them. Part-time library employee and lifelong lover of literature Mary Ann Giasson facilitates the group. Participants can explore and perhaps broaden their definition of a classic, read both fiction and nonfiction classics, and branch out to modern classics as well. The group discusses a different title each month.

On Monday, January 28, the group will discuss two pieces by Virginia Woolf: “To the Lighthouse” and her extended essay “A Room of One’s Own.” On February 25, they will talk about Maya Angelou’s autobiographical “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” and on March 25 the title is “The Last of the Mohicans” by James Fenimore Cooper.
