Camden Public Library and Maine Coast Workshop will host a free online presentation by master wood-carver Alexander Grabovetskiy on Wednesday, June 16, at 7 pm. via Zoom. Email jpierce@librarycamden.org to request the link to attend.

Maine Coast Workshop, a small woodworking school in Camden that offers a limited number of classes each year with a focus on traditional 18th-century American craft, will host Grabovetskiy at its studio for a five-day workshop.

Grabovetskiy has “ … been called the world’s finest carver,” said William Brown of Maine Coast Workshop in a news release. He received his initial education in ornamental wood carving from his grandfather when he was 6 years old. When he was 16, he apprenticed to Vladimir Tokarev, a professional carver famous for creating hand-carved furniture and other wooden goods. In 1996, Grabovetskiy and his family emigrated to the U.S. as political refugees.
