Trustees of the Union Fair and Maine Wild Blueberry Festival are launching their annual contest to choose a design suitable for use in publicizing the 2019 Union Fair, to be held August 17 to 24.

Entries should reflect the fair’s themes, which include, but are not limited to, blueberries, agriculture, fairs, carnivals, farm animals, 4-H, crafts, and harness racing. Posters should reflect aspects of both a traditional agricultural fair and the Maine Wild Blueberry Festival. Artwork should be poster size, approximately 14 inches x 20 inches, and need not include lettering, dates, etc.

The contest is open to the public and the designer of the selected poster will be awarded $500. All rights to the selected design will become the property of the Union Fair. It is hoped, but not required, that the artist will be available to attend one or more days during fair week to sign posters.

Medium is artist’s choice but the design must be in color. Colors should be strong, the design bold and graphic; elements that do not reproduce clearly such as shading should be avoided.

All entries must be submitted no later than March 31 and delivered to: Union Fair, Matthews Museum, c/o George Gross, P.O. Box 582, Union ME 04862, or dropped off at Union Town Office.

All entries must be accompanied with an entry form, available at unionfair.org or by contacting George Gross at njmoxie1@verizon.net.
