Registration has begun for two art clubs offered at Waldoboro Public Library. The art club for middle-schoolers, those in grades 7 and 8, will be held on Mondays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for five weeks beginning on January 14. An art club for children in grades 4 through 6 will meet on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for five weeks beginning on January 10. All abilities are welcome. The art clubs are free of charge and all materials will be supplied. Each session will have a different focus of art-making designed for the age group: assemblage and collage, printmaking, painting and drawing. Book design will also be offered in the sessions for middle schoolers. Children will gain hands-on experience with the tools, materials and techniques pertaining to the week’s art-making. They will also learn about noted artists and innovators in similar areas of art-making. Joyce Steel, a Waldoboro artist and teacher, will be instructing both art club programs. Space is limited to 15 in each club, so pre-registration is required. To enroll, or for more information, call 832-4484 or stop by the library at 958 Main Street in Waldoboro.
