“Backlit Rock,” oil painting by Jeff Shula
The Kramer Gallery at the Belfast Free Library will exhibit recent works by Jeff Shula through January. In the show, titled “Shula 2.0,” the Belfast artist explores plein air landscapes, delving into effects of sunlight through the seasons. Some of his favorite local painting spots represented in this exhibit include the Head of Tide Preserve, Frye Mountain Game Management Area, Belfast City Park and Kelley Cove in Bayside. A former journalist for The Republican Journal and The Waldo Independent and English teacher at Searsport High School, Shula recently published the book “Fireside Chats,” featuring interviews with Waldo County oldtimers from The Waldo Independent, with photos by Peggy McKenna.
