A reception to open “Close to Nature,” a show of work in a variety of art media reflecting the artists’ experiences with the natural world, will be held at Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center and Art Gallery, 9 Water Street in Rockland, during Rockland’s First Friday Art Walk on September 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. Libbey Seigars of Whitefield Pottery will exhibit handcrafted tableware, which reflects the Japanese influence of her studies and apprenticeships in Vermont and Japan.  Among pieces in the show by The Women Painters of Midcoast Maine & Friends are Judy Graebert’s “Hardhead Island,” and Deb Jellison’s “Crows.” The show will be on view through November.
