Jazz singer Spider Saloff will appear at the Old Town House, 128 Town House Road in Union, on Thursday, July 18, at 7 p.m. to benefit Cancer Support Center of Maine.

Saloff has performed all over the world; her vocal style has been compared to that of Peggy Lee. Her renditions of works by Cole Porter are noted. She headlined a George Gershwin tribute in St. Petersburg, Russia, and has opened Jazz Festival at New York’s Lincoln Center. Tickets are $25; to purchase, or for more information, call 322-0960.

Saloff will also perform in a benefit concert for Friends of Rockland Public Library at Rockland Elks Club, 210 Rankin Street, at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 19. Local musicians Dick White on guitar and Spike Hyssong on bass will provide accompaniment. Cocktails will be available. Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the library’s circulation desk; tickets at the door are $25.
