The Oshima Brothers (Sean, left, and Jamie) perform to a packed house at the Basil Burwell Community Theater in Belfast on January 9 as part of a fundraiser for a memorial honoring Laila Al-Matrouk, a Belfast teen who was killed in a bicycle-car crash in 2018. The memorial, to be built in Heritage Park on the Belfast waterfront, will center around a Japanese lilac tree and two granite benches and a bronze plaque. The show, which included an opening set by The Fowlers, drew more than 200 people to the former Universalist church on Court Street and raised roughly $3,150, according to organizers. Funds beyond the amount needed for the memorial will go to the Laila Al-Matrouk scholarship fund.
