American pianist Orion Weiss (pictured) is the winner of Bay Chamber Concerts’ 2019 Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award. The recognition adds to numerous other awards that Weiss has received, including an Avery Fisher Career Grant, a Gilmore Young Artist Award, the Gina Bachauer Scholarship at the Juilliard School and the Mieczyslaw Munz Scholarship. The $25,000 Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award recognizes a pianist under the age of 40 who has made a serious commitment and contribution to the world of chamber music. Andrew Wolf, a leading chamber music pianist who died in 1985 at the age of 42, co-founded Bay Chamber Concerts as a teenager with the idea of giving talented young musicians an opportunity to perform with some of the world’s great artists. Orion Weiss appears regularly at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and at chamber music festivals around the world. He is also a founding member of the new music chamber ensemble Third Sound. Weiss will appear in several concerts as part of Bay Chamber Concerts’ Summer Music Festival.
