Penobscot Bay Ringers, midcoast Maine’s community handbell choir, will present its annual spring concert, “Bells by the Bay,” on Saturday, May 11, at 7 p.m. at Chestnut Street Baptist Church fellowship hall in Camden. The one-hour concert will showcase a variety of hymns and pieces written especially for handbells. The full five-octave choir repertoire will be supplemented with several pieces performed by smaller ensemble ringing groups. Some of the handbell music will be accompanied by viola and keyboard. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for seating. The concert is presented free of charge and open to all, although attendees are encouraged to consider making a donation in support of Storm Warriors International, a Camden-based nonprofit organization. Storm Warriors is engaged with the rescue, recovery, restoration, and relief of people in crisis. They help Mainers in crisis by partnering with nonprofits involved with opioid addiction recovery, human trafficking rescue, homelessness and poverty relief, medical emergency supplies, and other services. Storm Warriors gives these organizations media packages that help them increase their impact and improve their outcomes. For more information, visit stormwarriors.org.
