Quebecois percussionist Kattam invites families to experience Africa, the Middle East and India through rhythm, song and dance in a live performance at the Strand Theatre in Rockland on Friday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. The show opens the new Strand Family Series, which offers quality arts entertainment that families can enjoy together, with admission on a pay-what-you-can sliding scale of $20, $10, $5, or $0. The opening program in the series features Kattam, who is part Quebeçois and part Morrocan. He trained in classical music, studying piano, singing and percussion, and has studied conga, timbales and drum in Havana, djembe and doum doum in Guinea, and derbouka in Morrocco.
