The DaPonte String Quartet is offering a six-part series of online concerts; the first, featuring Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 5 in A Major, is now available by visiting onstage.daponte.org. The performance was filmed at the Rockport Opera House in January.

Additional performances will be offered on the website on Saturday, March 13, featuring Schulhoff’s String Quartet No. 1; on April 3, with Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110; on April 24, with Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major, K. 465, “Dissonance”; on May 15, with Stravinsky’s Three Pieces for String Quartet; and on June 5, with Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major.

Twentieth-century Czech composer Erwin Schulhoff was influenced by the Dada movement and believed that “absolute art is revolution.” He died of tuberculosis in a Nazi concentration camp in 1942.
